Situation

Harvester Park was already a destination—but the Burr Ridge Park District wanted more than a playground. They wanted to be a piece of history.

Located near historic Old Route 66 and just off I-55, the park sits along one of America’s most iconic travel corridors. The challenge was clear: how do you help families, children, and travelers connect with the history of Route 66 in a way that feels fun, interactive, and unforgettable?

They needed a landmark that could:

  • Extend the story of Route 66 beyond the highway

  • Invite hands-on interaction for all ages

  • Create a natural photo stop and gathering point

  • Be snapped, posted and shared to boost location awareness

  • Fit seamlessly into the park’s themed design

That’s when they partnered with Your-Type LLC.

Solution

Working closely with the Burr Ridge Park District, we designed a custom Route 66 3D activation placed intentionally at the end of the Route 66-themed playground.

The result:

  • Iconic Route 66 elements scaled for interactive play

  • Durable, outdoor-ready 3D sculptures designed for touch, photos, and group moments

Instead of a static display, the activation invites exploration—kids climb, parents photograph, and visitors pause long enough to engage with the story behind the road.

Impact

What was once the end of the playground is now a moment everyone remembers.

By integrating interactive public art into the park’s existing amenities—playground, picnic areas, walking paths—the Burr Ridge Park District didn’t just add a feature, they:

  • Extended visitor dwell time

  • Strengthened community connection

  • Gave Route 66 a physical presence families can experience together

With Your-Type’s custom 3D sculptures, Harvester Park now offers more than a visit. It offers a story people can step into—and take home in photos and share instantly.
